“Activity” was also registered in Canada as a trade mark, Serial Number 601154, Register number 391897, for t-shirts, runners, printing and advertising products. Due to an address change in 1993, which somehow did not get login to the Trade Mark Office, The Trade Mark Office dropped the registration. Since, Bruce Chambers has operated under (TM) for the above products.

HIGHJACKERS
Have you had your homepage and all your settings changed?
You can waste a lot of time trying to figure out what has gone wrong, even having to make a service call. It can be a headache. Hijacking may not be as scary as a virus, but it still has its downfalls. If you ever get caught in a hijack, there are some pretty simple ways to fix them.

To fix the search hijack, open Internet Explorer and go to Tools, Options, Programs tab. You will see listing of some of your Internet services. In the bottom left hand corner, there is a button that says "Reset Web Settings." Click that and the registry keys will be renewed. Click OK when you're finished.

EBAY

If your just starting out, or you have been trying to make a go as an affiliate with no luck, give eBay a try. Thousands of persons are making a good living selling on eBay.

To register is free and easy. Go to;

Click the register now button. You will need to create a User ID. And password, and enter the required information. You will receive confirmation e-mail from them. Just click on the link and you will have a account with them. Below is some URL’s you can click on to get further information.

Protect yourself from spoof (fake) emails and Web sites. Take the Spoof Tutorial to learn about eBay Toolbar with Account Guard, which warns you when you are on a known spoof site.

Auction-Style Listing (Online Auction Format)
The basic, most common way to sell an item on eBay. This format lets sellers list an item for sale, collect bids for a fixed length of time, and sell the item to the highest bidder. For more information on buying formats, click on line below.

Domain Information

When a work is in the public domain, it means that the work is free to use without paying royalties.

When the creator of a work dies, the rights to benefit from a work passes to his/her family and continues for 70 years after the creator's death; at that point, the work enters the public domain.

There are many books, movies, newspapers that are in Public Domain. These are no longer cover by copyright and can be used by anyone, fully, or changed to suit the new author.

For example every issue of any magazine, who’s copyright was not renewed in the U.S.A. between the years of 1923 and 1964 becomes Public Domain. Records show only about 1,500 ever renewed their copyrights. Every issue of any magazine whose copyright was not renewed in the 28th year of first publication is now Public Domain.

A work may be in the public domain because:
It was created before copyright laws.
Its copyright protection has expired.
It never had copyright protection or its protection was lost, (example: a work published before March 1, 1989 and did not carry a copyright notice),
It was dedicated to the public domain.

The following items are never covered by copyright:
Works. If created by the U.S. government (except under contract).
Reprints of works in the public domain (but a license may restrict use.)
Ideas, facts, and common property (i.e., calendars and phone books) federal laws and court decisions words, names, slogans and phrases. Most blank forms, discoveries, procedures, and systems (but not the words that describe them.)

Google extended the functionality of Google Image Search (http://images.google.com/) to now include the ability of filtering search results based on Usage Rights. To access this new feature, you will want to click on “Advanced Image Search.” With this new feature, Google provides us with a few options:

A SPECIAL HOLIDAY REPORT

Many of our Christmas traditions were celebrated centuries before the Christ child was born. The 12 days of Christmas, the bright fires, the Yule log, the giving of gifts, carollers� who sing while going from house to house, the feasts, and the church processions can all be traced back 4000 years.

Christmas celebration was outlawed in Boston from 1659 to 1681, however residents of Virginia and New York celebrated the Christmas holiday freely.

Christmas was declared a U.S. federal holiday in 1870.

Many public buildings once commonly included Nativity scenes. By doing so the practice led to lawsuits, claiming the government was endorsing a religion.

In 1984 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled a city-owned Christmas display, including a Nativity scene did not violate the First Amendment.

INTERNET INFORMATION

If you intend on making a living on the Internet start out part time. The failing rate on the Internet is over 94 percent, mostly because they buy into the MLM Marketer that promises all you have to do is join as a paid member.

In your dealings with others, make sure you have proper disclosures as required by law. To be an effective marketer, don't be untruthful, make false, misleading statements. Further remember you are responsible for statements made by the MLM marketer if you are an affiliate selling for them. You too could be charged and fined along with the MLM you are promoting.

Found out the hard way that Internet business opportunities are
almost never all they're cracked up to be. The only persons who benefit from the opportunities are the people who start the programs and a few friends at the top.

Seen all those ads with images of luxury cars, boats, and house? This is the image of high life you can have if you join a MLM opportunity.

As a newbie to the Internet (joining after years of retirement), with 40 years of successful publishing, printing, business off line, it makes me sick to think people would believe this. Yeh, just join this MLM and in two months you will be building a luxury house next to Bill Gates.

Scams after scam try to make people believe that pyramid selling laws just doesn�t apply to the Internet. Many so-called marketers are not just sneaky, but are out and out liars.

Further, very few offer any sort of resources to help you. To make matters worst, they make you feel like a real "dumbie" by e-mailing you 2 days after joining, wondering why you haven't signed up at the very least 100 members. They make it look like it's your fault you have not yet earned enough to pay for that lot next to Bill Gates.

Their scams have given the Internet a real bad name. Just mention to a friend or work mate about joining or buying something on the Internet. I will bet you 90% will just change the subject or walk away. So many persons got sucked into some of these get rich scams that the average person will not trust the Internet when it comes to buying products, services.

Webmasters who are now on the web work overtime, researching, and
building trust, which enables them to sell on the Internet.

They know success does not come overnight. They have to work hard, be persistent, teachable, research. They have to make the effort and a little bit of cash helps.

PROTECT YOUR COMPUTER AND MONEY

Here are a few steps you can take to be on the safe side. If your email program has the option to automatically download attachments, make sure it is turned off.

Check and make sure your Anti Virus is up to date.

If you have to open an attachment, save the file to your computer or a disk.
Manually scan the file using up-to-date Anti Virus.

Remember scammers use fake websites, mail redirects. Before sending any money check it out first. Never just click on the URL provided. Type in the URL manually.

If you receive an email with the heading Paypal, Clickbank etc., asking you to confirm your user, password, remember they already have this information and would not be asking you for it.

Internet auction sites give buyers new and used merchandise from around the world. They give sellers a global storefront from which to market their goods. But the online auction business can be risky business.

Among the thousands of consumer fraud complaints the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) receives every year, those dealing with online auction fraud consistently rank near the top of the list.
The complaints generally deal with late shipments, no shipments, shipments of products that aren't the same quality as advertised. Most complaints involve sellers, but in some cases, the buyers are the subjects.

Most Internet auction sites require buyers and sellers to register and obtain a "user account name and password before they can make bids or place items for bid.

Do not give your user, password to anyone. If you do another person could access your account and buy or sell items without your knowledge. That could damage your online reputation � and eventually, your bank account.

FAKE CHECKS
You get a response to your ad on your website or auction posting, offering to pay with a cashier's, check. Net day you get a e mail from the buyer informing you he made a mistake writing the check for more than the purchase price, and asks you to wire back the difference after you deposit the check.
The check is counterfeit, but they're good enough to fool unsuspecting bank tellers and increase the balance in your bank account. When the check eventually bounces, you are liable for the entire amount.

Consider using an online payment service instead; they often offer more protection for both you and the buyer. If you choose to accept checks, ask for a check drawn on a bank with a local branch. That way, you can visit personally to make sure the check is valid. If that's not possible, call the bank the check was drawn on (don�t use a phone number given to you by the person who gave you the check). Ask if the check is valid.

Never accept a check for more than your selling price, no matter how tempting the plea or convincing the story. If the buyer sends the incorrect amount, return the check, and don't send the merchandise.

Defragging Hard Drive
It is a function that people seem to ignore. When you ignore it your computer suffers. The best time to do it is when your ready to shut down in the evening. It does take time, and as a rule you can't or should not use your computer until it is finished. Opening a file or if Windows is running a program in the background will cause the program to terminate and restart.

Don�t Forget To Thank Mother For Networking on Thanksgiving Day.
Networking is more then shaking hands, and giving out business cards. Forget about the endless networking skills you may have learned at the office. We just have to put the few lessons mother taught us into practice. As a kid we were always in a hurry to find something better. Our mothers taught us patience.
If your in a hurry you miss the value that can be built taking time with building relations in networking. Establishing a relationship by taking time, gives you a solid framework in networking building.

Your mother worked hard as an example. This is one of the better examples in networking she gave you. That's why it is called networking, not sit work. For networking to be successful you have to work hard and put out the effort.

Remember her telling you to share your things with others? Some of our best resources are time, money, and information we are willing to give to the relationship. They appreciate us when we are willing to give to the relationship.

She always made you clean up after yourself. In networking, follow-up is required. Whether it's a promise to meet someone, or just a thank you is one of the most important lessons of networking. These life lessons we learned from mother during childhood are a solid basis's for strong networking skills.

The ACTA agreement would see Canada join the US and European Union in a coalition against copyright infringement. Border guards and other public security personnel could become copyright police under the deal.

The deal could force Internet service providers to hand over customer information without a court order. The new agreement will likely be tabled at July�s meeting of G8 nations in Tokyo.

People no longer get fooled by notices from Banks, PayPal, Tax

However phishing has found another way at getting your money.

Once they have your credit card number, and learn your billing

Most of the information listed in my news report took me weeks to collect. It is too much to take in a day. If you�re in Internet marketing, all of it will come in handy one day. I would suggest you make a file, name it �Resources-Web tools�, copy and paste it in the file.

When I first came on the Internet, the only knowledge I had of computer�s is how to turn them on. Period. I figured I had enough business smarts that would keep me from getting scammed.

A fellow who set me up with a web site and host service did scam me. I though he was a great guy to set me up, tell I learned a bit about c panel�s and found out he had it set up so he was getting credit for most of the ads on my site.

If your starting out with your own website, learn about cpanels, and never let anyone other then your self control it.

Malicious Software Removal Tool
The Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool checks computers running Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003 for infections by specific, prevalent malicious software-including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom-and helps remove any infection found. When the detection and removal process is complete, the tool displays a report describing the outcome, including which, if any, malicious software was detected and removed.

Microsoft releases an updated version of this tool on the second Tuesday of each month, and as needed to respond to security incidents. The tool is available from Microsoft Update, Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center.

Note: The version of the tool delivered by Microsoft Update and Windows Update runs in the background and then reports if an infection is found. If you would like to run this tool more than once a month, use the version on this Web page or install the version that is available in the Download Center.

Because computers can appear to function normally when infected, Microsoft advises you to run this tool even if your computer seems to be fine. You should also use up-to-date antivirus software to help protect your computer from other malicious software.

Highjackers, Scammers
Some Scanners are turning from e-mail to using phone calls to scam. They phone their victims and offer free security scans in order to gain access to people's computers, according to Microsoft.

Scammers pretend to be PC security experts from legitimate companies. They call warning of a risky security threat and offering to run a free security check-up. If you take the bait, the scammers gain access to your PC and can capture passwords, financial information.

The amount of money stolen per person ranged from $82 up to $1,560, while the cost of fixing the subsequent damage to the PC was $1,730 on average and as high as $4,800. Be warned. Be suspicious of unsolicited calls or e-mails related to a security problem.

Watch out for malware Mac Defender, also known as Mac Security and Mac Protector. It is a fake antivirus program that is designed to scare people into thinking that their computers are infected with malware and that they have to pay with a credit card to clean the machine.

Writing for the Internet is very different, then writing a research or term paper. You cater to a specific market; people who do not have the time to spend reading a 1500 word article and find only one or two helpful tips. They are looking for Information that will be easy to understand and people will be able to relate with.

Good English, or fancy technical writing that people would have to consult a dictionary just to grasp your thoughts, are of no help to a person who is marketing on the Internet. You have to create functional articles that will be easy to understand and people will be able to relate with.

People are looking for how to, where to find information that will be helpful in their everyday marketing. They want to find it on one spot if possible and not spend hours looking for it.

Have a list of your contents, keep your writing to short paragraphs intended for easy reading, this will make it helpful for those who don't really have the time and are just scanning for information that is helpful.

Such knowledge should be useful to them and will make them interested in reading your future articles as well as your other products and services.

The odd good joke in the middle of your article helps to break the steady reading of information, and gives the person a chance to have a good laugh too.

WORK-AT-HOME SCAMS
Consumers need to be vigilant when seeking employment online. The IC3 continues to receive numerous complaints from individuals who have fallen victim to work-at-home scams.

Victims are often hired to �process payments,� �transfer funds,� or �reship products.� These job scams involve the victims receiving and cashing fraudulent checks, transferring illegally obtained funds for the criminals, or receiving stolen merchandise and shipping it to the criminals.

Other victims sign up to be a �mystery shopper,� receiving fraudulent checks with instructions to cash the checks and wire the funds to �test� a company�s services. Victims are told they will be compensated with a portion of the merchandise or funds.

Work-at-home schemes attract otherwise innocent individuals, causing them to become part of criminal schemes without realizing they are engaging in illegal behavior.

Job scams often provide criminals the opportunity to commit identity theft when victims provide their personal information, sometimes-even bank account information, to their potential �employer.� The criminal/employer can then use the victim�s information to open credit cards, post on-line auctions, register websites, etc., in the victim�s name to commit additional crimes.

GOOGLE VIDEO has a selection of TV Shows, Viral Clips, and Movies freely available on Internet. They also have some which need to be purchased.

DROP SHIP
Don't be fooled by the junk drop ship lists that sell for $25 to
$50+ and call themselves drop shippers. Most of these lists are
worthless.

They are resellers, charge you high retail prices, or you are
required to pay a set up fee.
The good true drop shipper will not ask you for a fee. They will
allow you to copy pictures of the products they sell. Prices
are about half you would pay for retail. You can then set your
price. They will not include any of their material and ship
under your label.

When you need to get a contact phone number for a company, sometimes it takes a while to get to the right page. Bing will give you the number right on the search results page. No need to even visit the website.

If you want a preview of a web page without having to visit the website, Bing shows you the information, just scrolled over the desired search result and a preview box will appear. The text will give a short description of the web page, and shows what other links appear on the page.

The complaints generally deal with late shipments, no shipments, shipments of products that aren't the same quality as advertised. Most complaints involve sellers, but in some cases, the buyers are the subjects.

Most Internet auction sites require buyers and sellers to register and obtain a "user account name and password before they can make bids or place items for bid.

Do not give your user, password to anyone. If you do another person could access your account and buy or sell items without your knowledge. That could damage your online reputation � and eventually, your bank account.

New Tax Law
California became the latest of several U.S. states to have passed a law requiring sales taxes to be applied to online purchases, also referred to as Amazon tax because the e-commerce giant is tied up in several lawsuits throughout the country challenging the constitutionality. Taxes or no taxes, consumers will shop on the Web regardless of the final outcome.

A good reason why more and more will buy on line is, how many miles would they have to drive to find the kind of product selection available on the Web? Thirty minutes of Internet research probably amounts to two days running all over the city to find the product they want at the price they are willing to pay.

Online shoppers can zero in on the brand and style they want and then, with the click of a single button, see how they compare in price on a dozen different websites and store locations.

SCAMS, FRAUD

ONLINE RENTAL FRAUD
June, August, September, January are competitive months for rental suites.

There are a lot of fraudulence ads being placed free on Craigslist etc. Crooks ply on the shortage of apartments by placing ads on these sites. When someone answers they are informed owner had to go out of the country for a funeral or what ever. They had no one that they could have left the keys with so the apartment could be checked.

Now comes the kicker. If you�re interested in renting the apartment, send $900.00 as damage deposit, and $1200.00 for the first month�s rent and the key would be courier to them.

There is a limited supply of apartments on the market, so this is a huge target for scammers.

Don�t fall for this scam. People need to do their homework, physically see the apartment, talk to the owners� and have a written contract.

Some Tips to Avoid Impersonation/Identity Fraud:

Never throw away ATM receipts, credit statements, credit cards, or bank statements.

Never give your credit card number over the telephone unless you make the call.

Reconcile your bank account monthly and notify your bank of discrepancies immediately.

Keep a list of telephone numbers to call to report the loss or theft of your wallet, credit cards, etc.

Report unauthorized financial transactions to your bank, credit card Company, and the police as soon as you detect them.

Review a copy of your credit report at least once each year. Notify the credit bureau in writing of any questionable entries and follow through until they are explained or removed.

You should also consider selling via eBay. Thousands of persons are making a good living today selling on eBay. They give you a lot of support with free information, tools and resources. Really a great way to start on the Internet part-time, as you have control on the hours you want to spend to make it work.

What I like about eBay is you can start by selling articles, products you have around your home, which you no longer have use for. The products you sell do not have to be new, but should be in good condition.

Click the register now button. You will need to create a User ID. And password, and enter the required information. You will receive confirmation e-mail from them. Just click on the link and you will have an account with them.

There are many items around your home, you no longer have use for, but others may want to buy. A friend of mine was a Johnny Cash fan, had a bunch of his records he was going to throw out. Hi son took them, put them on sale on e bay, and sold most of them at $75. Each. Old books, certain T Shirts, are good sellers. Take a look around your home; you'd be surprised at the stuff you could sell.

Another way is to find a good drop shipper, and find goods you can sell at a profit on eBay, or via your website.

MLM�S
Don't get sucked into being an affiliate for some MLM scheme. Many are just an extension to chain letters and are not legal. Remember if you do sell for some MLM firm and they are not legal, you too could be charged. Further, you are given a long URL, which most persons will not click on. In fact you will be just giving free advertising for the MLM, as many will just chop off your affiliate link and deal direct with the firm, getting the commission you should have earned.

Don't get suck into free websites. When I first came on the net I seen an ad that promise a free website with 5 streams of income. Just what I needed. Yes my lucky day, a free website bringing in 5 streams of income. The only problem was he also looked after my cpanel. Being a newbie it took me 6 months to catch on the 6 streams of income were going to the guy, not me.

TIPS
Next never open an attachment unless you know who is sending it and you are expecting it. Be careful when downloading free offers, gifts, too. Great place for a virus to get a free ride into your computer.

SCAREWARE
One of the most widespread types of cyber scam being perpetrated against consumers these days involves �scareware��those pop-up messages you see on your computer saying you�ve got a virus and all you have to do to get rid of it is buy the antivirus software being advertised.

And if you don�t buy it? The pop-ups continue unabated, and in some instances, the scareware renders all of the information on your computer inaccessible.
Investigators discovered a variety of ruses used to infect computers with scareware, including consumers being directed to web pages featuring fake computer scans. Once their computers were infected with the malicious software, victims began being notified by pop-ups that their machines had all sorts of viruses and they should buy the antivirus software being advertised�at a price of up to $129.

Because of the magnitude of the schemes, law enforcement agencies here and abroad are continuing their investigative efforts.

Scareware pop-ups may look like actual warnings from your system, but upon closer inspection, some elements aren�t fully functional. Scareware pop-ups are hard to close, even after clicking on the �Close� or �X� button.

Fake antivirus products are designed to appear legitimate, with names such as Virus Shield, Antivirus, or VirusRemover.
And to avoid being victimized, make sure your computer is using legitimate, up-to-date antivirus software, which can help detect and remove fraudulent scareware products.

Let the buyer beware" is still a fact of life for consumers,
marketers are not given free rein to coerce, cajole buyers into
sales that may not be in the best interests of those buyers. Rules and regulations exist that limit how marketers can market.

Sales are a great way to entice buyers, but make sure your sales
are legitimate sales. Introductory offers is also a very forceful sales word. But to use the word the product is indeed new and offer should not be extended longer then six months.

False and Misleading Advertising
The intention to deceive is not what matters. What matters is the perception of the public. The test of whether or not an ad is misleading will be based on the effect on the average or unsophisticated person. Your advertising may also be deemed deceptive through omission or misleading implications. The bottom-line, "just the facts, just the facts."

This feature is particularly helpful if your search has non-English results. Google offers a facility to auto-martially translate a page for you in English. Currently, Google supports Italian, French, Spanish, German, and Portuguese languages.

SCAMS
RINGTONE-CLONING
Crooks can use scanners to read your cell phone identity, including the number and its unique serial number. Then they clone a cell phone to make calls at your expense.

Downloaded ringtones could be exposing you to a couple of potentially costly cell phone scams. Usually free ones or those exchanged via peer-to-peer software can and have been hacked by scammers and can install a virus that either damages the phone or steals confidential information. Get your tones only from established, reputable companies. And don't return messages or calls from people or organizations you don't know. The same applies to text messages. Text scams have many various ways of costing you money.

Sometimes you find what seems to be a really sweet cell phone rental deal. You don't find out you've been ripped off till the bill arrives, showing all sorts of additional charges you didn't know about. Read the fine print (all of it) and only deal with name suppliers that have been around for years.

Help On Vacation Scam
Individuals' e-mail/or social networking accounts being compromised and used to swindle consumers out of thousands of dollars. Portraying to be the victim, the hacker uses the victim's account to send a notice to their contacts. The notice claims the victim is in immediate need of money due to being robbed of their credit cards, passport, money, and cell phone; leaving them stranded in Vancouver or some other location.

Some claim they only have a few days to pay their hotel bill and promise to reimburse upon their return home. A sense of urgency to help their friend/contact may cause the recipient to fail to validate the claim, increasing the likelihood of them falling for this scam. If you receive a similar notice and are not sure it is a scam, you should always verify the information before sending any money. If you have been a victim of this type of scam or any other Cyber crime, you can report it to the IC3 website at: www.IC3.gov.

I have to admit I fell for a similar scam, only it happen at my house. I answered the door and found a nice looking well dressed young man, who explained he was embarrassed, but found himself in a tight bind. He had been visiting one of his relatives who lived on the same street as me. He left their house and his car broke down a few blocks away. He walked back to his relative�s house but they had gone out. He had to go to the airport to pick up a sister, but was short $35.00 for a used battery.

Could I please lend him the $35.00 for the battery, and after he picked up his sister he would either bring the money back that evening or get his uncle who lives on my block to bring the cash over. You guessed right. He didn�t bring the money back, and he didn�t have an uncle who lived on my street. His scam was he would find out the name of one of your neighbours, make sure they were not home, and then went door to door with his scam.

Credit Card Fraud
The Bait: Surf the Internet and view adult images online for free, just for sharing your credit card number to prove you're over 18. Consumers say that fraudulent promoters have used their credit card numbers to run up charges on their cards.

Share credit card information only when buying from a company you trust. I prefer using PayPal, as I am notified the minute a charge is claimed on my account. With a credit card you may not get the charges against it for up to a month.

Consumers can protect themselves by:
Use strong passwords for all financial accounts and change them regularly. Obtain and review your annual credit reports for fraudulent activity. If you were a target of an attack, immediately contact your financial institutions, notify your telephone provider, and promptly report it to the IC3 website at: www.IC3.gov.

Domain Copyright Information

When a work is in the public domain, it means that the work is free to use without paying royalties.

When the creator of a work dies, the rights to benefit from a work passes to his/her family and continues for 70 years after the creator's death; at that point, the work enters the public domain.

There are many books, movies, newspapers that are in Public Domain. These are no longer cover by copyright and can be used by anyone, fully, or changed to suit the new author.

For example every issue of any magazine, who�s copyright was not renewed in the U.S.A. between the years of 1923 and 1964 becomes Public Domain. Records show only about 1,500 ever renewed their copyrights. Every issue of any magazine whose copyright was not renewed in the 28th year of first publication is now Public Domain.

A work may be in the public domain because:
It was created before copyright laws.
Its copyright protection has expired.
It never had copyright protection or its protection was lost, (example: a work published before March 1, 1989 and did not carry a copyright notice),

SCAMS

Just as a little warning, did you know the �from� field of an e mail address can easily be altered. It is not a reliable indicator of true origin.

Stranded, the stories change, but the crime is the same. Crooks call pretending to be a co-worker, grandchild or relative who is in trouble abroad and needs money wired to them right away. Scammers can even mine social media sites and blogs for details to add credibility to their story.

Fake cheque, over-payment scams.
Interested buyer or potential tenant mistakenly writes you a cheque for too much money. Sends you an e mail informing you of the mistake, but ok to deposit, just wire the difference back to them. If you send them the difference you will lose your money. The cheque is phoney but the bank enters it to your account, when the cheque bounces your bank will debit your account for it.

Unfortunately, your money will be long gone by the time you realize the cheque is a fake. These scams have topped the list for a couple of years now, and will continue to hit business owners, landlords and people wanting to rent out rooms for extra income. (Read more about suspicious cheques.)

Employment scams. Phony job offers, questionable business opportunities and work-at-home scams. They can take many forms, from application fees to equipment training costs. Many job hunters have been asked to submit confidential financial information like a credit report or social insurance number during the process.

Economy-related scams. Not surprisingly, the newest scams target people who were hurt by the recession. Phony debt-relief services, unscrupulous collection agencies, advanced fee loans and credit arrangers are among the many crooks pretending to help people in financial distress. Experts warn to research companies carefully before buying into their services � or falling for their threats, in the case of collection agencies.

AFFILIATE CODES

I received an e-mail recently from a couple of good helpful guys, whom I believe to be honest. They operate a few really good sites
however they do use affiliates using normal affiliate URL�s.
Below is part of an e-mail I received from them.

There are terrible rumours flooding the Internet about affiliates being robbed of hard-earned commissions. While I believe this may occur on some minor frequency, our testing and experience has identified that it just isn't as bad as many would have you believe.

Truth is, Bruce, the bearer of the "gloom & doom" of affiliate link theft can usually be found to be thoughtfully including a link to a product that they claim will eliminate the theft problem completely.

I think they should try selling using an affiliate URL, I am sure they would change their mind.

I don�t know how to clone my affiliate URL, nor do I believe in redirecting the site. I do know when I sold a product I owned
as a test, I made a few dollars (over $500.) with just over 1000 hits to my site.

I get between 2,500,000-to 3,600,00 hits to my website monthly, and have not sold anything. I get over 600,000 pages taken, but these are for my 2 newsletters I publish via my site. The only reason I carry a few MLM�s on my site, my newsletters have given me number 1-10 spots in Google, MSN, Yahoo and other search engines. In fact my name is in the 1-10 spots in Google and other search engines.

Scams At Tax Time
This is the time of year the scammers promise you a quick refund for tax. They will come up with emails pretends to be from the tax department for mistakes you made in your return. Remember, governments do not communicate with taxpayers by email.

If you did your taxes with a computer program or online, make sure you protect your files. Store them on a USB drive. Don't leave them on your computer, as the information could be stolen.

One persistent piece of spam tries to trick people by offering an upgrade to Adobe Acrobat.
Those who click on the link are directed to a Web site touting the benefits of the software. Once on the phony site, the user is prompted to provide contact details and credit card information.
Adobe is aware of this particular Adobe Reader upgrade scam and has in the past warned their readers to watch out for it.
I think it is still a little dis-heartening to know people who have been online for years still fall for something this obvious.

Of course, Adobe Reader is a free product, so the request for credit card information should be a tip-off that something's not right here.

LIGHTSIDE
A blonde�s car breaks down on the freeway on day. She eases the car over onto the shoulder of the road. She carefully steps out of the car and opens the trunk.

Out jump two men in trench coats who walk about 30 feet from the back of the car were they stand facing the oncoming traffic. They take off their coats exposing their nude bodies to the on coming traffic.

Not surprisingly, one of the worst pileups in history of this freeway occurs. In record time a police car shows up. The cop, clearly enraged, runs towards the blonde of the disabled vehicle yelling, �What the heck is going on here?� �My car broke down� says the lady, calmly. �Well, what are these perverts doing, the two who got out of your trunk�. Asks the cop.

Think you can guess what her reply?
�Those are my emergency flashers!� she replied.

EBAY

EBAY is one of the top-shopping destinations on the Internet. To
register on eBay is free. Go to www.eBay.com and click on register. You will need to provide some basic information, a Password and user name. Once you get your confirmation e-mail you will be able to login.

Next check out the guidelines before trying to sell on eBay. In
fact research all information you can get from eBay. a population of over 22, 000, 000 and my research show sellers
are getting higher prices than in the US and Canada. There seems
to be a great demand for computer devices, and electronics.

Check the weight of the products you offer for sale for shipping
costs. Try products that can be downloaded for best results.

LOST OR STOLEN CELL PHONES.

Want to make your cell phone useless should it get stolen or if you lose it? Try this to get your cell serial number.�star-hash-zero-six-hash (*#06#). A 15-digit code should appear. Write it down and keep it safe.

If your cell phone gets stolen, phone your service provider with the code. They will block your cell and even if the thief changes the sim card, the phone will be useless.

No you will not get your phone back, but the thief will not be able to use or sell it.

Talking about phones. Hate paying the $1. fee for 411 directory information? Here is a tip. Just dial 1-800-free-411 (1-800-373-3411). There is no charge. Works on both cell and home phones.

The Coreflood Virus
In an unprecedented move in the fight against cyber crime, the FBI has disrupted an international cyber fraud operation by seizing the servers that had infected as many as two million computers with malicious software.
Botnets are networks of virus-infected computers controlled remotely by an attacker. They can be used to steal funds, hijack identities, and commit other crimes. The botnet in this case involves the potent Coreflood virus, a key-logging program that allows cyber thieves to steal personal and financial information by recording unsuspecting users� every keystroke
The Coreflood virus infects only Microsoft Windows-based computers. Generally, most users will not be able to tell if their computers are infected. It is therefore important to take the following steps:

Make sure your Microsoft Windows Automatic Updates are turned on;

Run anti-virus programs and ensure that they�re up to date;

Run a security firewall on your computer; and

Check your online banking and credit history to make sure you have not been compromised. If you have been compromised, contact your financial institution.

DROP SHIPPING
Drop shipping is a very good option. You don�t have to make any financial investments until you sell the product. You don�t need a warehouse to store your products. You don�t have the financial costs of buying the products, nor the packing and shipping of your products.

Pick the products you want to market, list them on your web site at a retail price, once a customer buys, you pay the drop-shipper the wholesale, he packs and ships the product to your customer under your shipping label.

They will not include any of their material in the package. The customer feels you shipped it out. There is no middleman, assuring you a good profit, and still sell below the normal retail price. There is no minimum purchase when you order from a drop-shipper.

You do have to do a bit of research to make sure you are dealing
with an honest, reliable drop-shipper. You shouldn�t have to pay a membership fee to join.

There is a new player in the field you should consider. Low prices, fast delivery, you need to consider the advantages of the opportunities� this presents.

The power of the Internet is breaking down barriers to communication. International phone calls are cheap or free, email is fast and efficient, and websites provide an unparalleled marketing platform. Small businesses or even individuals are empowered to compete in an international market, and the possibilities for business connections are seemingly endless.

China itself is full of business opportunities for foreign firms and investors, but entering the Chinese market can be a thorny business. Chinese businesses and individuals are less and less restricted by national regulations, meaning more travel, more trade, and more expansion into foreign markets.

You don�t have to travel to China; you can start at home on your computer. I found a firm that will give you a well researched mini-course in importing from china wholesale, drop shipper URL with sources� listed, including sources� which allow wholesale prices on smaller orders. Some firms will drop ship direct from China. I will send this information in the middle of this month, free, to my subscribers. A few of the importers have warehouses on the West Coast, USA, which they can ship from.

China is becoming one of the best places for wholesale and drop ship products. There just is not the space to deal with the information required to import from china in this article.

In your dealings with others, make sure you have proper disclosures as required by law. To be an effective marketer, don't be untruthful, make false, misleading statements. Scams after scam try to make people believe that pyramid selling laws just doesn�t apply to the Internet. Many so-called marketers are not just sneaky, but are out and out liars.

Further, very few offer any sort of resources to help you. To make matters worst, they make you feel like a real "dumbie" by e-mailing you 2 days after joining, wondering why you haven't signed up at the very least 100 members. They make it look like it's your fault you have not yet earned enough to pay for that lot next to Bill Gates.

Their scams have given the Internet a real bad name. Just mention to a friend or work mate about joining or buying something on the Internet. I will bet you 90% will just change the subject or walk away. So many persons got sucked into some of these get rich scams that the average person will not trust the Internet when it comes to buying products, services.

building trust, which enables them to sell on the Internet.

LIGHTSIDE
Scam didn�t start with the coming of Internet. Remember the 40s when there was a newspaper seller on each Connor?

A young man was standing on the corner with a stack of newspaper, yelling "Extra! Extra! FIFTY people are swindled! Read all about it."

Curious, a woman walked over and bought a paper. "Hey, this is an old paper, where is the story about the big swindle?" she demanded.

The newspaper man ignored her and went on calling, "read all about it: FIFTY ONE people swindled!"

SCAMS
Bogus websites appear offering everything you may want for presents or yourself at bargain prices.

The websites are professionally designed, with lot of testimonials from fake satisfied customers, fake security logos. These fake sites appear hosted all over the world.

If you order from one of them, they will take you for your money, but the chances are they will order stuff (which they resell) using your credit card. By the time you receive your statement they are a long time gone.

If you�re buying online, to protect your self use an online banking system like PayPal, (owned by e-Bay). No charge to join, and you get a notice as soon as there is any charge on your account. Most scammers will not use PayPal because of their security system.

PROTECT YOUR COMPUTER AND MONEY

Here are a few steps you can take to be on the safe side. If your email program has the option to automatically download attachments, make sure it is turned off.

Check and make sure your Anti Virus is up to date.

If you have to open an attachment, save the file to your computer or a disk.

Manually scan the file using up-to-date Anti Virus.

Remember scammers use fake websites, mail redirects. Before sending any money check it out first. Never just click on the URL provided. Type in the URL manually.

If you receive an email with the heading Paypal, Clickbank etc., asking you to confirm your user, password, remember they already have this information and would not be asking you for it.

Lotteries Scam
Tips to avoid being scammed:
A federal statute prohibits mailing lottery tickets, advertisements, or payments to purchase tickets in a foreign lottery.
Be leery if you do not remember entering a lottery or sweepstakes.
Beware of lotteries or sweepstakes that charge a fee prior to delivering your prize.
Be wary of demands to send additional money as a requirement to be eligible for future winnings.
